Football Season is Here!

Football Season is Here!

Snacking like a champion is easy when you start with basics such as organic mozzarella cheese sticks and delicious, high-quality meatballs. If you’re ready to start planning a gameday feast, here are a few fun tips and ideas to get you started:

Tip #1: Keep it Simple

The folks who come to your game day party aren’t coming to see your décor or to have a fabulous four-course meal. They’re coming to watch the game and enjoy time with you. Sure, they’re going to want food and beverages, but that stuff doesn’t need to take center stage on this occasion. Simple foods people can eat while cheering for the team will keep everyone happy.

Tip #2: Start with the TV and the Seating

Having a great TV and plenty of comfy seating is key. Your guests will also appreciate a place to safely set down their plates and drinks in moments when they need their arms to cheer or challenge the refs.

Tip #3: Focus on Finger Foods

Gameday parties have people on the move and your food needs to accommodate that. No spaghetti, so steaks, and no soup. If you want to serve that kind of stuff, do it before or after the game when it doesn’t distract anyone. During the game, offer your guests delicious, easy-to-eat foods that don’t require a knife and fork to manage. Favorites include the following:

  • Sweet and sour meatballs. Toothpicks work great for serving.
  • Gooey, warm mozzarella cheese sticks with a variety of dipping sauces
  • Chips and dips. Warm dips such as spinach and artichoke or a 7-layer creation are crowd-pleasers.
  • Pull-apart sliders like meatball or BBQ are tasty and easy to manage
  • Chicken wings and dips.
  • Pizza, but we like bites or smaller portions that are easier to manage without a table
  • Cut up veggies

Tip #4: Add a Bit of Thematic Flair

While you don’t need to go all out decorating, adding a bit of football flair will liven things up. Try simple ideas such as these:

  • Use a turf-green table covering.
  • Choose tableware (napkins, etc.) in team colors
  • Make footballs. Almost anything that’s brown can be turned into a football by drawing on white laces with things like markers, tape, or icing. Be creative. Brown solo cups, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, brown paper bags, cupcakes, etc., can all be “football-sized” with the addition of white lacing.
  • Think about refs. Black and white stripes are another decorative element you can use to create a football vibe.

Have Fun!

There’s no need to spend a lot of money or take days on elaborate décor. Invite your friends, serve some yummy food, and then sit back and enjoy the game.
